Crafting Learning That Works

Instructional Design Projects

Instructional design is the art and science of creating effective learning experiences that align with organizational goals. Through detailed needs analysis and innovative design, instructional designers develop materials such as course roadmaps, storyboards, training guides, and curriculum plans that deliver measurable outcomes.

For organizations, instructional design ensures that training initiatives are strategic, learner-focused, and results-driven. It supports learning and development teams by transforming ideas into structured, impactful programs that empower employees, enhance teaching and coaching, and educate customers.

Instructional designers often utilize the ADDIE model which includes the following phases: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Analysis is an important phase which often includes a kick-off meeting to understand the project vision, goals, audience and constraints. The helps determine the best learning solution. Next up, the design phase. This is when solutions are mapped out through outlines, storyboards, or scripts. The development phase includes drafting the solution through countless iterations and tests. Last, the implementation and evaluation phase, which includes gathering feedback, analyzing data, and evaluating impact. Evidence of knowledge transfer is the best part!

Needs Assessment

Phase: Analysis

Tools: Google Suite, Canva, Voice Form

A Voice of the Customer (VoC) survey, conducted online over 60 days, provided a comprehensive dataset to analyze customer perceptions and experiences across key service dimensions. The survey captured multidimensional feedback from military and government service-related personnel. Analysis of the survey results revealed valuable insights into customers’ experiences with customer service interactions, communication channels, and perceptions of value.

In response, the organization developed the instructor-led training, Preventing Military & Government Service-Related Discrimination, designed to address these gaps. The integration of data-driven training equipped employees with the skills and confidence needed to build trust with customers.
